Joy, facebook decreased the size of profile photo's to 186 width since this article so that might explain what youre finding. having some difficulty myself however but i think its just fb's compression methods "dulling" the logo graphics

i tried the 200px wide idea and it just doesn't seem to be working. i really wish it did that'd be an easy fix.

i uploaded a 14kb logo and then saved it from facebook to find that it had gone up in size to 35kb and was really compressed/crunchy looking.

i've tried pngs, gifs, jpgs. cmyk, rgb and index. nothing is looking right. if anyone has any ideas i'd be interested to hear them.

I spent a lot of time uploading and reuploading a logo trying to get to come out clearly. The compression is so great that items with a white background looked terrible.

What I finally figured out was that if you replace the white background with some other color -- such as a very light gray or some other color -- it seems to eliminate most of the obvious artifacts. If you want to get a background color that matches the Facebook header fairly closely, try using #f8f8f8 or something thereabouts.

Hi Angelo,

I tend to notice quite a bit of compression from my originals even when using the method outlined above. It's unfortunate that Facebook doesn't do a better job of it, but if you've resized the image to 200px wide, you've done the best you can. Hopefully Facebook will eventually get around to reducing the amount of compression they apply.

I tried to resize the image to 200 and didn't see any difference.

Anyway, do you know how to keep images from the fan page, generated through html to stay clear? for example.. here's my fan page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/2slickcom/170614689633933?v=app_4949752878&ref=sgm
see how the images are all kinda blurry? That's not the way the originals looked.

Thanks,

Wonderful! Key here is the size of your logo on Facebook. The last time we checked they (FB) did not offer any dimensions. So it was a guessing party. Thanks Eddie
